Ground - Talk before entering the movement area


  • Pilot: Long Beach Ground, Skyhawk_______, at Millionare North, Taxi 26R with Run-up
  • Ground: Skyhawk_______, Taxi 26R via Kilo, run-up approved (sometimes they will tell you to watch out or wait for traffic just repeat what they say)
  • Pilot: Taxi 26R via Kilo, Skyhawk ________ (add we will watch out for that traffic if necessary)


Tower - Talk before entering the runway

While Flying the Pattern

    • Pilot: Extend Upwind, Skyhawk________ (Maintain Traffic Pattern Altitude (TPA) and runway heading until told otherwise)
  • Optional Request B
    • Tower: Skyhawk_______, turn early crosswind
    • Pilot: Early Crosswind, Skyhawk ________ (Turn on to crosswind before reaching 700’)
  • Optional Request C
    • Tower: Skyhawk_______, extend downwind
    • Pilot: Extend downwind, Skyhawk________ (fly downwind until told otherwise)

    • Pilot: You will call my base, Skyhawk_______ (Same as extend downwind, you keep flying downwind until tower tells you to turn)


Landing Clearance (At Towered Airport you must always be cleared to land)


  • Tower: Skyhawk________, Cleared to land runway 26R
  • Pilot: Cleared to land runway 26R. Skyhawk_______

When there is traffic landing ahead of you tower might clear you differently

  • Tower: Skyhawk________, Traffic ahead is on a 1 mile final, number 2 cleared to land 26R
  • Pilot: Number 2 cleared to land 26R Skyhawk________ (Pilots job is to find traffic ahead)

If on extended downwind or “tower will call your base”

  • Optional Clearance A
    • Tower: Skyhawk_______Turn Base Now, 26R cleared to land
    • Pilot: Turning Base, 26R cleared to land, Skyhawk________
  • Optional Clearance B
    • Tower: Skyhawk_______Turn Base at the     , 26R cleared to land
    • Pilot: Base at the “605, 26R cleared to land, Skyhawk_______

If not cleared to land and on final approach

  • Pilot: Long Beach Tower, Skyhawk_______, requesting clearance to land 26R
  • Tower: Skyhawk_______, 26R cleared to land
  • Pilot: 26R cleared to land, Skyhawk_______


IMPORTANT LANDING CLEARANCE NOTES


  1. You can always GO-AROUND. A clearance to land is a clearance to go-around.
  2. If you are cleared to land you must come to a full stop and exit the runway as quickly as possible.
  3. If you are cleared for the option the PIC can perform a touch and go or a full stop landing. 
  4. Listen and understand your clearance.

Ground - After Full Stop Landing

  • Pilot: Long Beach Ground, Skyhawk_______, Clear of 26R on Kilo 2 (Or Kilo 3), Request Taxi Millionaire North
  • Ground: Skyhawk_______Taxi Millionaire North Via Kilo
  • Pilot: Taxi Millionaire North Via Kilo

NOTE - Switch Millionaire North with 26R if you want to take off again.
